 About Herzog College

Herzog College is the world’s leading Jewish teacher training college. Established in 1920, it is a center of excellence for teacher training and pedagogical innovation. Over 3,500 students are enrolled at Herzog’s four campuses in Israel, and many more participate in its global online courses and teacher-training seminars throughout the Jewish world.

Our graduates are impacting tens of thousands of school-children each year – as classroom teachers, department heads, school principals, and as policy makers in Israel’s Ministry of Education. Teachers in Jewish schools around the world turn to Herzog Global for innovative training and resources.

Herzog College was established according to the vision of Rabbi Eliezer Meir Lifshitz zt”l, a pioneer in religious teacher training in Israel, and in the spirit of the former Roshei Yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Etzion, Rabbi Yehuda Amital zt”l and Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein zt”l. The President of Herzog College is Rabbi Dr. Yehuda Brandes.

Avishalom Westreich

Prof. Avishalom Westreich

President, Herzog College

Professor Westreich is an internationally renowned scholar in Jewish and Talmudic law, halachic research and family law, and holds rabbinic Semicha. He was a researcher and lecturer at prestigious international institutions, including Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as Associate Professor at the Academic Center of Law and Business in Ramat Gan, and Research Fellow at the Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Alongside his academic activities, Westreich is a reserve officer in the Northern Command of the IDF, and has served approximately 350 days in reserve duty since the outbreak of the war.

Under Professor Westreich’s leadership, Herzog College will continue to advance pedagogical excellence and innovation, leading academic research, and developing educational leadership in Israel and the Jewish world.

Adrian Treger

Adrian Treger

VP of External Relations

Adrian joined Herzog College as the Vice President of External Relations with a deep belief that preparing excellent teachers is crucial to develop a future generation who are able to build a strong unified Israel.  After serving as the Director of Strategic Relations at Ariel University, Adrian moved to Netzah Yehuda where he serves as the Vice President of External Relations working to help Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) soldiers in the IDF.  Previously Adrian headed the International Resources & Strategic Planning department for the non-profit organization Tzohar.

Originally, from Cape Town, South Africa, Adrian graduated in International Marketing from the AAA School of Advertising & Marketing, the country’s leading marketing institute. He then worked for leading international advertising agencies such as Ogilvy Mather and J. Walter Thompson in Cape Town. After making aliya in 1997, Adrian studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion before volunteering for combat duty in the Israel Defence Force (IDF) NAHAL brigade.

After serving in the IDF, Adrian returned to Marcom & Sales and in 2006 founded ABT Communication Consultants which provided marketing consultancy for numerous global entities such as Bank Leumi Le-Israel and Harel Insurance as well as hi-tech and biotech firms.
